Before filing your report

If you can provide them, gather the following information and documents:

Date, time and place of incident;
Identity of persons concerned;
File number or statement of offence related to the incident;
Names of witnesses;
Relevant documents in support of your report.

Awareness or training

We can provide feedback to the people you report about their conduct and make recommendations to their employer to prevent future breaches.

Hearing before the Tribunal

In cases of serious breaches of the Code of ethics of Quebec police officers, the Commissioner may, after investigation, summon one or more police officers to appear before the Tribunal administratif de déontologie policière (Administrative Tribunal for police ethics) when the Commissioner deems that the evidence justifies it. At the end of the hearing, the Tribunal issues a written decision confirming whether the person concerned by the complaint has committed a derogatory act and, if so, determines the applicable sanction.

Respect for your personal information

Here's what you need to know about how we use your personal information. We assure you that we will handle it with care and respect for your privacy.
By submitting this form, you agree that the Commissaire à la déontologie policière (Police Ethics Commissioner) may use your personal information if necessary:

When analyzing your report;
When your report is communicated to the director of the organization where the peace officer concerned works;
To contact you for further information or to inform you of the outcome of its decision.

If the report leads to the filing of a citation before the Tribunal administratif de déontologie policière (Administrative Tribunal for police ethics), all information or documents transmitted as part of your report will be forwarded to the peace officers concerned.

These documents may also be filed at the hearing and, subject to an order from the Tribunal to protect an individual's privacy, some information or documents may become public.

To protect the confidentiality of your personal information, the data entered in the form will be deleted after X minutes from the start of the form fill out or Y minutes of inactivity. You will then be redirected to the first page of the form to start writing your report again.
